As I pondered passion, several different interpretations came to mind. In the end, I decided to go with a more titillating, tongue in cheek view. I cut strips of silk charmeuse which I wove into a pattern on a white silk background. I machine quilted with sensuous curves. I see the silk strips as representing a perfectly made bed.
I used red silk painted fabric to make rose petals. I fused two pieces together. I created three dimensional petal shapes from the fused silk. They were sewn to the background with a small bead. Here is a closeup
So, there you have it, satin sheets and rose petals, ready for a night of passion. You can see more details on my blog.

I love it! You did not pussyfoot around the theme, but went straight for the passion! I could not imagine how those lines were going to be passionate when I see your sneak peek, but now I get it! And the hot pink against black and white is perfect.
...and those red beads look like pomegranite seeds - another passion symbol - good stuff.
Not quite as over the top as the house of ill repute I imagined from your sneak peek, but definitely a "bow chicka wow wow" quilt. ;-) The rose petals break up the grid beautifully and definitely invite the viewer to stay a while.
Do you know - I am not sure I would be bothered about the night of passion if I could sleep in this bed. I'd like to get clean in a bath and then slip in those soft sheets and have the smell of the roses... all to myself!
I love those 3D rose petals. Great job! The silk is totally appropriate here -- adding another passionate dimension. I wish I could see it in person.
Gerrie, why am I not surprised that it is you who went straight to the sheets and rose petals??! And how well you have done it! I see a four poster bed in those strong lines.
The little rose petals are lovely!
I love this! It's a wonderful interpretation of a passionate night to come. Great idea!
Your bed of roses piece is such a playful interpretation of the theme "passion". The three dimensional rose petals are delightful. Now where did I leave my champagne glass?
Oh, so wondeful Gerrie -- and I am amused that the eldest among us opted to go for the romance and satin sheets! This, I think, says good things about your life! :-) I love the rose petals, too -- they are just right. Well done! (And it was great to talk to you too!)
How very romantic! Just watch out for seed beads in the bed.
This is so cute I laughed out loud when I saw it. Very clever and the rose petals are perfect.
Mmmm... very nice, and so sensual. I love it Gerrie.
