Karen's Dandelion

This piece was made using my embellisher so there is no thread involved, only 7 needles pushing the fabric into the felt below. I used silk, rayon, nylon and cotton fabrics. The purple is pieces of fabric I chopped up and sprinkled on the felt. I then covered the whole thing with tulle and "embellished" it.

Karen! How fun to use the embellisher and create dandelion petals this way! This makes me want to pet it! That yellow sure sings against the purple, too.

I love how different all of our techniques are. This is very graphic and textural. I agree that the purple next to the yellow really sings. Now, I must get back to work and finish mine.

Oh, this is great, and so different. Great colours too.

When I first saw your dandelion piece, I thought it looked like velvet. The dimension and color shifting from the fabrics and embellishing resemble a plush velvety surface for me. Lovely!

I agree that this gives the visual sense of plush velvet. How interesting that you did that with color and light!

I bet this one is even better in person as all the different fabrics must really play well against each other.

Touchy-feely! I thought it was painted when I first saw it. I never really saw the point of embellishers - now I might have to get one!

Gosh, this DOES look like velvet! It's amazing. The purple section is making me salivate, but the whole thing is incredibly dynamic.

The addition of the complementary purple background makes the humble dandelion seem positively regal.
