Complementary colors
For one of my City & Guilds exercises some time ago, I had to collect images showing complementary colors together. It wasn't ever anything I had consciously noticed, but as soon as I started looking, I saw wonderful pairings all around me.
I'm thinking that now that we're all going to start thinking about purple and yellow, we'll find examples all around us.
I'm excited about this challenge, Karen!

The rubber ducky is very cute but I especially like the peppers in the lower left corner. It only took a day or so with this palette for a pansy to appear - ha!
Ooh, time for cultural exchange. That is not a rubber duckie -- it is a Peep. Peeps are an American Easter treat (I use that word broadly). The original is a chick shaped marshmallow coated in yellow-tinted sugar, but nowadays they come in several colors and shapes. They have little taste and zero nutritional value, but they are synonymous with Easter baskets here. :-)
...and they're delicious when roasted over the bbq and inserted in s'mores.
Oh, I know all about Peeps. Too sweet for me although I generally like marshmallow things...
We put them in hot chocolate. My dad likes them stale... so he opens the package and sits it on top of the frig for months. Seriously.
I am sad. I have never had a Peep. I would like Peeps if I could get hold of them. Life somehow seems grey without the addition of a Peep. Think - I might get to the end of my days without a ever knowing the delights of a Peep...
(Is that enough with the pathos already? Anyone going to send me one now?)
Helen, I think we finally tossed the rock hard ones that had been hiding in our closet for several years. Remind me next spring and I will send you some.
Roasting a Peep over a fire reminds me of the time Isabelle's rubber duck fell in the fire while camping -- very tramatic, but she learned a good lesson. Hopefully the kids are old enough that flaming ducks wouldn't cause nightmares.
