Last month, I took pictures of my garden on a bright sunny winter afternoon. I used one of these pictures to burn a screen. I then screenprinted my fabrics with black and white fabric paint. The blue and white background fabric had been dyed beforehand with this quilt in mind.
The piece is entirely machine quilted, but I added some hand embroidery. As a final touch, I had fun using screenprinted fabric for two pieces of the binding.
I've posted more pictures on my blog.

LOVELY!!!
It's lovely Françoise. This has that same cool, crisp feeling as your inspiration photo. You've chosen just the right blue fabric too as the dyeing looks so much like wispy clouds. Love the detail of the silkscreened fabric for the binding.
I love, love how you created the shadow effect by using black and white paint. So effective. Your fabric background looks like a lovely partly cloudy day. I also like how you did the border. Thanks for this fun challenge.
So striking! I especially love the black shadow lines under the white branche line. Great quilting lines, too. And cool use of those different binding fabrics!
I echo what Gerrie and Diane said--the shadow effect is stunning and the color beautiful.
Don't tell the others (whose works are truly fabulous for sure...!) but I like yours the best. I love the image of the bare trees--it's one of my favorites to play with.
Well done!!
I'm in agreement with the others on the shadow effect, it really gives this piece depth. In fact I like everything about this piece, it is obviously well thought out with the black piece in the corner, and the extra shadow along the side, really beautiful Francoise.
I love the shadow best of all. You are all so clever
When I look at this, I can almost hear the frost and ice crunching underfoot on a crisp winter day. Exquisite presentation.
Lovely screen printed imagery. The colors are so beautiful and the use of the screened fabric in the binding was brilliant.
I love how the binding echos the prints in the quilt. The colors and beautiful and I can feel the cold, sunny day.
This quilt has such intensity. I really like it very very much. You chose just the right bits from the screened image and placed them just perfectly on the background. I love the asymmetrical binding. Diane and I also used different treatments on different sides on our pieces.
I just love this one. Especially the shadow effect. Well done.
