Love, chocolate and patchwork

This is my house. It's full of love, chocolate and patchwork.
When I chose my theme a few months ago, I really didn't know what I would come up with. As I didn't have much brown in my boxes, I started by dyeing some chocolate fabric.
Then, for two months, I wrote down every word chocolate made me think of. It soon became clear that many of these words, feelings, facts, things were related to my family, and therefore to my house too. I decided to pick the more significant words and to write them on my chocolate fabric. This would be the walls of the house.
The quilting, and the house shape, are inspired by drawings my children made when they were little boys. The crazy log cabin blocks are leftovers from a very old project. They were begging me to use them in this quilt. I couldn't resist.
Making this chocolate quilt was a lot of fun. I'm going to put more pictures on my blog later today.
I'm so glad to see all the other chocolate quilts too. I'm off to read all your posts now.

Wonderful association! I hadn't thought about that before, but you are right - I associate chocolate and home too.

Love your idea of the home, family and chocolate. Um, I wonder though, how long a house of chocolate will last before the termites, oops, humans eat it up.

I like your choice of colors, the house seems so cozy in the chocolate brown and the wording on it looks great

I want to see this up close so that I can see the words.I presume they are in French. I must go to your blog and find outmore. I love that you used some log cabin blocks from your stash. I want to come over for some chocolate!!

I love the house and the warmth radiating from the windows. My high school french has helped a little because I can read at least of few of the words. The log cabin blocks add a wonderful touch around the chocolate house. The quilted tree is the perfect finishing touch.

Francoise! This is such charming piece. You've balanced the cool and warm colors so well -- it makes the house look so inviting. And I love that it's not glaringly obvious that it's about chocolate until you get up close and read the words on the house. (Sort of like peeking in windows!) Your stitching is wonderful, too, especially the suggestion of a tree.

Cute. Do you have a chocolate teapot on the stove in your little cabin house?! What did you use to write on the fabric with? (thats a tip I shall be stealing!)

The stitching captured my eye first but all of the lovely details hold my attention: the small blocks, the house shape, the words. Enchanting!

Your hand dyed fabrics really capture the warmth of home and family. The writing draws the viewer in to take a closer look. Just delightful!
