Wrapped up in art quilting

I have discovered tonight that it is perfectly possible to quilt using Lindor Irresistibly Smooth Milk Chocolate truffle wrappers as fabric. I am considering extending this theme to a king size bed quilt accordingly! However, I have also discovered that photographing the shiny wrapper was a royal pain in the butt because of course it reflects the light. A problem as I am now inspired to so something 'multi-media' with the wrappers but would hate the work not to show up in a photo. This is my best attempt. (Taken without flash obviously). Any tips anyone?

I am prepared to undertake additional research to see if other wrappers have a more matt effect if that is what it takes.

Try scanning it rather than taking a photo - I've used a scanner for all kinds of recacitrant objects!
Sweetie wrappers are great for foiling btw (especially Ferraro Rocher) - just use Bondaweb.

Or what would happen if you covered it with non-glare glass and then took the photo?

I don't know about photographing them, but I do have a stash of the wrappers saved to do something with. I bought a large bag for those "Honey, bring home chocolate" days. I could judge the quality of the day by the number of truffles necessary. One truffle was a good day, too many to count was a not so go day. Sadly the bag is gone and I haven't replaced it yet.

I think this discovery amounts to devotion to duty above and beyond the normal.
I have been using chocolate wrappers for several years now on and off, my darling sons now 20 and 18 got into the habit of never even screwing any wrapper up never mind throwing it away until they had asked me if I wanted it.lol.
as far as the photos go, maybe a filter on the lens... can you tell I'm not a photographer?

I think you need to have good ambient lighting on the piece. Perhaps take the photo outside. Use a tripod or something stable for the camera. I never use a flash for my photos - never, never!! I do a correction on brightness in I-photo or photoshop, if needed.

I had thought about collecting chocolate wrappers and doing a collage piece, but I worry about the amount of chocolate I might eat while doing this!!

I have taken photos of shiny glittery surfaces by holding the camera at an angle rather than with the shutter straight on. You get a distorted square which you can fix up in Paint Shop Pro 10using the perspective tool.

Please let us know if you need any help to do extra research in this area. After all, there are at least four colour of Lindor wrappers - but perhaps another brand would work even better...

What if you painted the paper with matte medium? That might dull it down enough for a decent picture.
