Even the most cursory research shows that sugar has a fascinating history. According to Wkipedia, " [sugar] influenced the formation of colonies, the perpetuation of slavery, the transition to indentured labour, the migration of peoples, wars between 19th century sugar trade controlling nations and the ethnic composition and political structure of the new world". In the 21st century, there is an avalanche of literature and scientific reports highlighting the detrimental effect of sugar on your health. But never fear, looking at these photos won't hurt you. While on home exchange in France is 2008, I visited the Florian confiserie at Pont du Loup. They make candied fruits, jams, crystallised flowers and other goodies using traditional methods. Sweet!
We are twelve quilt artists who have embarked on an art challenge together. For four years, we each made a 12x12 inch quilted art piece on a designated theme or palette.
For 2012, we changed things a bit and made rectangular pieces, 20x12 inches with roughly 10 weeks between each challenge. As before, we had a designated theme for each challenge.
We use this blog to share our process, progress, and results. We're from different places throughout the world and our artistic styles vary, but we share a love of art quilting and a desire to play, experiment, learn, and grow.
