Twelve & a bit

I've always struggled with making quilts to a specified size. You would think after our twelve challenges I would be getting more accurate but, as you can see, my sizing fluctuates and there are some pieces that are more like "twelve & a bit" along the edge. And if you look closely, you will see that there are more than twelve quilts in this photo. I have completed two utterly different pieces for the "Twelve" theme and cannot make up my mind...Kirsty has seen my stack of quilts, maybe she has some advice for me?

Mine are twelve and a bit too -- depending on what kind of binding I've used. ;-)

Since I don't usually use a binding, many of mine are a little less than 12.

Oh mine are all exactly twelve inches. Of course the rulers I used to achieve that seem to vary a little bit...!
Oh look - my word verification word for this comment is : coment. Neat.

As a follower I for one am waiting with much anticipation for the "great reveal". regardless of the angst or indecision they all usually turn out great and I always feel inspired :)

Certainly no exactitude in my pieces either.

I also completed two 12 quilts. You will not believe how awful one of them is. I'm not sure I will ever share it. I'm mostly pleased with the other.

You mean you guys MEASURE?!?!

Fewwwww! I was a little worried that I wasn't going to measure. I glad to hear that we're all in the same boat.

Funny about that! Mine seem to have the same virus. Perhaps it is serendipitious that my recent thoughts have been on "just how does one get exactly straight edges and exactly 12" square". ANow I am thinking that there just is NO secret, but if there is,.....mmmmmn now I have my doubts.

PS. Brenda, I just Lurve your top one. Its magic.

Sometimes I just use one of my previous 12s to measure what I'm working on. Probably not the most accurate method, ahem.

No two of my twelve quilts are the same size. And I own a 12 1/2" ruler. I've given up on caring.
Brenda, I am no help with your latest 12 dilemna. I genuinely couldn't choose between them (I was far too busy being jealous that you HAD the dilemna)!

I'm just so disappointed! Here I was measuring all of mine perfectly to 12x12 because I figured you all were too! Tee hee!

I was measuring too, of course...
