This is the first dandelion quilt I completed. I used my own dyed fabrics. Some are shibori dyed. I embroidered and quilted by hand.
This is the second one. Last Sunday, I decided to try and save the yellow dandelion I had worked on last month. All the fabrics are hand-dyed too. And everything is machine stitched. By the way the stitching looks a bit crooked, but it isn't in real...
Both quilts are inspired by the pictures I took in my garden when Diane first gave us her theme.
Pfff... it's done! Now I can concentrate on the next theme, that I'm still the only one to know.
:-))
Oh they are both fabulous Francoise. I really like that large central image in the upper photo.
ReplyDeleteThe shibori and embroidery combination worked perfectly! I really like the simplicity of teh little puffs on blue, and yet you know exactly what they are. The center "Pusteblume" just sparkles! Your second piece turned out well too -- I can't believe you almost threw it away!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are lovely, but the first is spectacular! The large image of the fluffy dandelion seems beautifully mysterious and almost like a photo of outer space with constellations and stars whirling. It reminded me of this poem, part of which goes:
ReplyDeleteTo see a world in a grain of sand
and a heaven in a wild flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand
and eternity in an hour.
-William Blake
Francoise, I really like both of these. The shibori and embroidery work so beautifully together, and I love the simplicity of how you've framed the composition. Very elegant. And I can't believe you almost threw out the yellow dandelion! It's terrific.
ReplyDeleteFrancoise, you are awesome. Two pieces! They are both great and I really like the shibori and embroidery.
ReplyDeleteI love the use of shibori for the fluffy version of the dandelion. I am impressed that you had time to do two! I am still trying to get one finished!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to wake up to a mass of dandelion quilts! As I am on dial-up at my mother's house, I won't leave comments on each one at this time but it was good to see that while Francoise and I both chose our shibori pieces, they are both quite distinctive.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Especially the shibori one. I like the abstract quality.
ReplyDeleteThe seed head in the first one looks just wonderfuly ethreal and magical. I love it yet in contrast I also like the robustness of the second one. Although I know ot is handie the blue looks like denim and I like the way the quilt makes a fragile flower look very sturdy. I didn't know we were allowed to do two!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely and elegant quilts, Francoise! I'm especially drawn to the softness of the first one. I like the setting of them, too. Nice balance :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great idea for our next challenge!
I love the softness of the seed head -- so calming in contrast to your other dandelion. The yellow just pops in your other quilt.
