Circle Symphony

Circles, Circles, Circles! I seem to be a bit obsessed with circles lately. They are just a fun way to play with color and texture. And what amazing colors to play with this round. They are so full of life and energy. Orange is even starting to grow on me.
To create this quilt I once again quilted a bunch of white fabric and then pulled out the paints. I spent an entire day making fabric paper in bright orange, yellow, green and blue. The house was filled with drying paint and the kids had to watch their step so we didn't have really big mess. Once dry, I cut out circles in all the different colors and sizes, layering them to explore the different color combinations. Finally, I added the copper washers and beads because I couldn't help myself.

  1. I can't wait to see the mosaic with these pieces! You found a way to use these colors in a very Nikki quilt. I can related to having to add the beads and washers - LOL.

  2. This one should hang next to Brenda's rejected piece! They look like magic carpets. I love the exuberance in this piece! Happy, happy, happy!

  3. Ooh, Nikki, this is wonderful. I'm drawn to circles too so this pulls me right to it. And yes -- it'd look great next to Brenda's first square piece. The washers (and of course the basic circle shape) add a lovely uniformity of the thing. I bet this sparkles in person!

Hope you didn't have to rush too much to get this finished in time!

  6. Thanks everyone.

Diane, I finished the quilt over the weekend and even took the picture yesterday. I just didn't have time to write the post. I opted for short and sweet since I now have 2 sick kids on the first day of school. Hopefully we will get all the problems out the way and it will be smooth sailing from here on out.

  7. Add me to the circle fans! The metallic edge finish is a perfect complement to the copper washes and beads. Just like a lorikeet - flashy, flamboyant and fun!
