I thought of and rejected lots of ideas before I settled on this one. Water. Of course once I decided that was it, I have seen this mentioned everywhere. I know our group can rise to the challange and put a fresh perspective on it. I hope we can blog even more about our ideas and plans. I really enjoyed reading everyones thoughts and I'm the first to admit I didn't blog enough last time.
Water -- a good theme with a lot of places to go!
ReplyDeleteI had a thought, after trying the "open" discussion thru the theme this past time.
How would you all feel about letting the person who chooses the theme also choose whether it's "open" or "closed" in terms of discussing and showing progress along the way? That way we'd have some of each, just by virtue of what the challenge host picks...
What do you think?
I think that is a fair way to do it. After I have seen the results of the latest challenge, I know that I could have chosen similar ways of interpreting it and my work would look totally different. So I vow not to be put off by the sharing of ideas!! I like the idea of water - so many places to go with this!
ReplyDeleteWater. Ah, well this is certainly going to challenge me in working small. The special category at Trentham gardens show this coming weekend is water and I decided to make a small entry just to participate. That ended up 90 x 50 inches!! I will blog photos of the special category entries on my blog after I go to see it on Sunday so you can choose whether to be inspired or hide away from influence!
ReplyDeleteGreat theme Karen! It was on my list of words for my own theme, but I finally picked chocolate instead.
ReplyDeleteGreat word Karen! I like your idea, Diane, about letting the theme-chooser decide about an open or closed discussion.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that each of us will share what we want about our process and thinking regardless of what rules we place on the challenge. Looking at the numbers of posts for each challenge, "community" actuall had the least. I didn't feel that sharing we did took away from the grand reveal in the least. Each one has been a joy to view.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about water. Just thinking about it is relaxing.
Oh, this will be a good one! There are so many places we can go with this -- almost too many. I see a list coming on.
ReplyDeleteWater is a very topical issue in Australia and was high on my list of potential challenge themes. I've previously made a 12 inch water quilt as part of my earthwaterfire triptych but look forward to being slightly more adventurous this time.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think I need to get a drink and think about this! So many ideas.
ReplyDeleteGreat theme! I have been taking photos of water for ages now with the intention of somehow using them for an art project. Maybe this will be it?! If you would like to see some of my pics, there are some here

I'll be adding more. You are all very welcome to use any of them in any way that you would like. The thing that excites me the most about them is the variety of colour that water comes in (sheesh, what a surprise! I'm so predictable).
