Yellow in Leeds

Following my dandelion-less trip to London ( Even after a two hour walk around Regents park - none!) I travelled this week to Leeds. As I was thinking about adding a photo of a grey colourless city scape to my quilt, I set off one evening to take snaps. The problem is that Leeds centre is actually quite an attractive place - either ornate Yorkshire stone or sleek gleaming glass. Setting the camera to black and white helped but as you can see, its not really the grungy look I was seeking.

I started seeking out yellow and realised that in cityscapes yellow is a warning, or attention grabbing colour...

Which got me thinking - what are dandelions for? Are they too a warning? That life is short and we should pay attention, perhaps? My goodness Diane - you have me coming all over philosphical!!

  1. Wow. That first picture is stunning. The contrast in the architecture of the two buildings is so interesting.

  2. I was born in Leeds but now live in New York. It's nice that you show some pictures. I hope they provide some inspiration for you.

  3. I love these pictures, and I love that searching for dandelions is what caused you to take them.
